Q: I saw a picture on your website of a puppy I want, what do I do now?

A: The first step is to call us and discuss what you’re looking for.  We carefully match buyers with puppies and want to make sure that the puppy you get fits your goals, expectations and lifestyle. Not every puppy is right for every buyer and we pride ourselves on making a match that will last a lifetime.  This is our hobby, not our livelihood and if we don’t feel that we have the right match we will tell you that.

If we do have a litter which will be a good match then a $200 deposit will reserve your pup.  We only accept deposits for litters which are already born.  If you’re interested in a future litter we maintain a waiting list and will keep you updated about the status of the litter but no deposit is due until the litter is born.  You must select a male or female when you place your deposit.

Q: So if I have the first deposit, then do I get “pick of the litter”?

A: We make final matches when the puppies are 6 weeks old.  At this age their temperament and conformation is well developed and we can make the best possible matches.  There is not necessarily one “pick of the litter” puppy because everyone’s goals vary.  For example, the “pick puppy” for someone who wants a competitive Schutzhund prospect is going to be very different from the “pick puppy” for a family looking for a pet for their 5 year old.  We assist clients in selecting the best match based on the order of deposits

Q: At what age can I pick up my puppy?

A: Our puppies are ready for their new homes at 8 weeks old.  They usually wean from their mother between 5 & 6 weeks (we allow them to self-wean), and then spend the next several weeks with their littermates learning about socialization & confidence.

Q: Can I visit my puppy before he’s ready to go?

A: Puppies are very susceptible to diseases and visitors may unknowingly be carrying virus’s which were picked up from other dogs.  Therefore, we allow visitors at 6 weeks old, after the puppies have their first vaccinations.  However, we will update you weekly with pictures of the litter and when you take your puppy home you’ll get a CD of all of your puppy’s pictures.  Visitors are welcome to visit the adult dogs at any time (except the mother of a young litter, due to the above health reasons).

Q: If I live too far away from you to drive, how will I get my puppy?

A: We ship puppies throughout the United States and internationally.  Shipping costs for the continental U.S. are $350 which includes a crate and a health check by a veterinarian prior to shipment.  We arrange all of the paperwork and you simply need to arrive at the airport with a photo ID and pick up your puppy.

Q: Is shipping okay for the puppy?

A: Prior to shipping we work with your puppy so that it is used to it’s crate.  The airlines that we use are very experienced with shipping dogs and it is usually a very smooth process.  We take your puppy into the airport on a leash and he’s usually the center of attention in the airport.  About 15 minutes before the plane takes off we put him in his crate and he’s loaded onto the plane.  He flies in a climate controlled area and is taken into the airport terminal immediately after the plane lands.  Buyers usually report that the puppy arrives wagging his tail and happy to greet his new family.
